Welcome to Meet the Team!
Here at Expedite we put great value on our people; without them we wouldn't be able to deliver our superb work. We're now throwing them into the spotlight so you can get to know the people behind the code. This week we have a chat with… Jay Duff.
What is your role within Expedite?
I'm currently our client liaison manager, although I've previously also been the MatterSphere Development Team Leader as well as one of the MatterSphere developers.
How long have you been with Expedite and what drew you to us?
I've been here for 11 years now. I think what really drew me to the company was the openness and honesty from Gary during my interview.
What does your day to day look like?
I'm not sure I have a standard day to day, as I try to fit the needs of our clients. I'll often be found I client meetings, discussing their needs and issues, or speaking with our teams to handover work and check in on progress.
What is your team like?
I'm not really in a typical team. I currently work alongside the other members of the management team, although I'll often have involvement with the guys doing the actual work. This works quite well as it lets us easily and quickly identify any issues or opportunities.
What have been your biggest accomplishments on your team in the last 3 months?
Firstly, delivering a very large project to one of our key clients that was 18 months in the making - it's already proven its worth to them and greatly increased their month end efficiency. Secondly, helping to expand our team quite significantly and bring in some fantastic new hires.
What has been your experience with our company culture?
It's been great to see the culture alter over my 11 years here, although our core values have always stayed the same. Every member of the team is very friendly and approachable, but we all have a brilliant can do attitude and all want to help our clients succeed.
How have you grown professionally while working with Expedite?
I started here as a junior software developer on university work placement and I'm now working within the management team, so I'd say quite a lot of growth has happened.
What are you looking forward to working on in the future?
I'm looking forward to getting more involved with our Nucleus product and seeing where we can take that, as well as what additions and enhancements we can make to our PortalPlex product to help it grow even more.
What does the next 3 months look like for you?
As well as the usual meetings, I'm planning to spend some time reviewing our products and looking at what features we can add to them to solve the issues our clients are typically encountering.
Thanks a lot to Jay for taking the time to answer these questions. Come back in 2 weeks to meet the next member of the team!
